SPILL SOME LOVE

Happy Valentine's Day Lovelies!

I just wanted to share with you a cute inexpensive gift to give any loved one – a friend, family member, or significant other. These coasters are super easy and very personable. We've done these in the past with some of our favourite photos, but I wanted to make some updated ones with some cute love sayings. Check them out below :)

Things you need:
Watercolour kit/set
Tiles
Epoxy
Modge Podge
Paint brush
Roll of cork
Xacto Knife and cutting mat
Hot glue gun

Step 1: Get creative!

I chose to hand paint some cute love sayings and scan them to my computer but you can add photos or download mine here! After you choose your design, print and cut them out. Mine are 4x4 so they fit nice on the coaster with a little white border.

Step 2: Modge Podge.

To adhere my prints, I put Modge Podge on the coaster and the print. Then place the print and centre it on the coaster.

Step 3: Mix and Pour Epoxy.

Now I've never worked with epoxy before however, it was quite easy and nothing like I was expecting. This is the kind I used! I thought there would be an odour, but there isn't. I also thought to pour it and spreading it would be a disaster but it was really easy and not too messy. Just make sure to prep your surface. I used tons of wax paper under my tiles so it's an easy cleanup and doesn't ruin my table. Also it would help to prop your tiles up off the surface a bit. Make sure they are level so the epoxy runs off and doesn't collect on the surface. This is something I learned as I went.

You also want to make sure you have an old mixing container that you don't care to throw away. Mix the epoxy by following the instructions on your box and pour on your coasters. After I took an old paint brush and just spread the solution all around the tiles to cover the corners and edges. Now we wait.

Step 4: Glue coaster on cork backing.

Place your dried coasters on the cork backing. You will need to hot glue them. After they are all placed and glued, simply cut around them using a Xacto knife.

Voila! Homemade personalize coasters!

MOVING ABROAD?

So as you've heard, I moved to England, working part-time and cheering my boyfriend on while he plays hockey for the Guildford Flames.

When I was getting ready to move to here, I was SO excited! Nothing else was on my mind and I could hardly wait to get off the plane and explore this beautiful country.

I created this packing list to help make sure I wouldn't forget a thing. I made it about a month before I had to leave haha. I just wanted to leave right away!

A CARD FOR ALL

Valentine’s Day is just a few weeks away, and you can feel it in the air! For me, vday isn’t necessarily about being involved in a romantic relationship, but about telling all the special ones in your life that you love them – from significant others to family to friends. Here are a few of my faves for sharing the love!

Hey What's Up Hello!

we're-back-header.jpg

After a longgg unexpected, unannounced time-off, we are ready to revive our baby blog and give her a pulse again! This past year [and a bit] has been incredible with ups, downs and side-ways experiences. From the chaos of moving [twice], career updates, location changes, and life challenges, we cannot be more excited to be back on our creative blog, looking for more exciting opportunities.

What have we been up to you ask?

Well, we were roommates for a year - living in a fixer-upper of a house and tackling adulting full force. We LOVED living together. I could say that I wouldn't have found a better roommate than Char. We vibe so well together, have the same interests, and are best friends. What more could you ask for? We had some hilarious, rewarding and unforgettable moments living together for that year and I think our lives both changed for the positive. RIP 63 Beatty!

When Char's boyfriend decided to take on Hockey in the UK, that's when our time together had to come to an end. This was an opportunity no one could resist!!! So she packed her bags and is now living in the UK with Ian while he finishes the season. She is having the most incredible experience, that I'm sure will stay with her forever. I cannot wait until she's home though!!! I miss her to bits!

This year I'm trying to get direction in my life, become more career and goal focused, planning for more creative outlets, and set up to be more self-aware and healthy.

We welcome you back, to follow along with our life journies, DIY projects, event support, and whatever else comes our way!

If you're the type of person who cant keep an indoor plant alive to save your own life... make these!! I never thought I would get around to making Terrariums but I've always wanted to and have heard not only how easy they are to make but also keep alive.

Succulents are a pretty low maintenance plant from what I've read. They need in-direct light and minimal water. Thus why they are perfect for someone like myself! They also come in lots of shapes, sizes and textures as you can see!

I grabbed my succulents from a local nursery, along with all the fixings to keep them alive and well. I got my glassware at the dollar store because I knew I wanted to make a few so I tried to cut costs somewhere along the way.

Charcoal
Orchid Mix
Cactus/Terrarium Soil
Stones (optional)
Moss (optional)
Decorative Nic-nacs (optional)

Add charcoal to cover the base. This is a pretty important step. The charcoal adds natural filtration and helps purify the water in your terrarium.

Make a mess and plant your succulents. After the base of your plants are level with the soil its time to add some rocks.

Time to water your terrariums. Spray water down the sides of the glass to clean any dirt off. The water retained in the charcoal base is all it needs to sustain its own ecosystem. Keep the water level within the charcoal base and be careful to not over water.

I hope you get your green thumb on and enjoy these cute little babes!
